Its holdings include a large collection of general fiction and children's books. The library is open more than 80 hours a week. Library services include group and individual orientation tours, informal instruction on the use of library resources, general reference services and interlibrary loan. | Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) PO Box 170 Unity, ME 04988 207-568-4142 fax: 207-568-4141 email: [email protected] Founded in 1971, the mission MOFGA is to help farmers and gardeners grow organic food, to protect the environment, and to recycle natural resources; to increase local food production, to support rural communities, and to encourage sustainable farm economies; and to illuminate for consumers the connections between healthful food, environmentally sound farming practices, and vital local economies. The organization is perhaps best known for the Common Ground Country Fair, a celebration of ecologically sustainable practices that draws over 50,000 visitors each year. MOFGA's new Common Ground Education Center, located at the heart of Maine's farm country in Unity, is now serving as a permanent site for the Fair, as well as a year-round venue for all of the group's activities. |
