Garbage and Recycling
Municipal Solid Waste collection in Freedom takes place every Thursday. One sticker is needed on each bag. Stickers may be obtained for two dollars ($2.00) each at the Freedom Town Office. Freedom's garbage is collected by Sullivan's
Waste Disposal & Recycling Services, P.O. Box 119, Troy, Maine 04987.

Freedom will be holding its annual Spring Cleanup day Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 7 am to 2 pm. Goods must be taken to the old Freedom dump on the Mitchel Road. Items that will be accepted include furniture, rugs, mattresses, light metals, demolition debris and appliances. Freezers, refrigerators and air conditioners must have freon removed. Written proof of freon removal must be shown at time of pick up, or a $15 fee will be charged (payable to Sullivan's). Tires no larger than 16" and off the rims will be accepted with tire stickers ($2.00 each) available at the town office. Tires can go in your weekly trash pick up with a tire sticker. Propane gas tanks will be accepted with the spout removed. The town will not accept leaves, brush, wood waste, pesticides, asbestos, liquid paint and solvents. Brown Goods: TVs, microwaves, toasters and other electrical devices, furniture, mattresses, rugs. Unity Regional Recycling Center on Leonard Road in Thorndike accepts television sets, computers, computer monitors, printers (including empty ink cartridges), fax machines, scanners, and other electronic devices.
White Goods: Large appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washing machines.White goods may be taken to the Town of Unity's white goods collection facility

MONTHLY RECYCLING: Pickup is on the last Friday of every month. Recycling items need to be out by 9:00 AM. Call Stanley McDonald, Jr. at 382-3129 for more information. Or goods can be brought to the Unity Regional Recycling
